Most garage software will tell you what you invoiced. Far fewer will tell you whether the workshop that produced it is running well. Autera answers the questions a manager is actually measured on: how productive each technician was, what the parts really earned, what is blocked this morning, and what is still owed. None of it needs a new process, because it is all read from the jobs, clock ons and invoices your team already records.

THE REPORTS

Four numbers that run a workshop

On the analytics page, and in one email each morning.

Technician productivity

Hours clocked against hours sold, per technician, per month. The gap between the two is where your capacity goes, and it is usually waiting on parts or an authorisation rather than anything to do with effort.

Parts margin

Parts billed, parts cost and the margin between them, taken from invoices you have actually been paid for. Any line that went out at cost with no markup is flagged, because nobody decides to do that on purpose.

Workshop flow, right now

Where every live job is sitting: booked but not started, in progress, waiting on customer approval, waiting on parts, and anything that has been in the workshop seven days or more. The bottlenecks colour themselves.

The daily manager report

One email at the hour you choose. Yesterday’s work and takings, this morning’s queue, unpaid invoices and per technician productivity, before the first car arrives. Quiet days send nothing.

WHAT IT ANSWERS

The four questions on a Monday morning

Answered before you have opened the diary.

1

Who is carrying the workshop?

Productivity per technician, week on week, so a drop shows up while you can still ask about it.

2

Where is the day stuck?

Jobs waiting on customer approval or parts, counted and coloured, so the phone calls that unblock them get made.

3

Are the parts earning?

Margin on the parts you have billed this month, plus the lines that went out at cost.

4

What is still owed?

Outstanding invoices on the same screen as the work that generated them.

FOR GROUPS

One branch, or all of them.

Every report respects the site you have selected, so a group can read one branch at a time or the whole business from the same screen. Per site staff only ever see the sites they have been granted, and the daily report can go to a different inbox from the one the workshop runs on.

Hours clocked come from technicians clocking on and off jobs, on the Board or in the app. Hours sold come from the labour lines on jobs you have completed. Both are things your team already does, so there are no timesheets to chase and nothing extra to fill in.

Most workshops sit between 60 and 90 per cent, and the useful signal is the trend and the gap between technicians rather than the absolute figure. Autera colours anything at 85 per cent or above green, 60 to 85 amber, and below 60 red, so you can read the week at a glance.

It reads the parts lines on invoices you have actually been paid for, so it reflects billed reality rather than intention, and it shows parts billed, parts cost and the margin between them before VAT. It also flags any part line that went out with no markup at all, which is the quietest way a workshop loses money.

One email at a time you choose: yesterday’s jobs booked in, jobs completed and money taken with the labour and parts split, this morning’s queue including anything waiting on customer approval or parts, cars in the workshop seven days or more, unpaid invoices, and how each technician performed. Days with nothing to report send nothing.

Yes. Reports respect the site you have selected, so a group can read one branch at a time or the whole business, and per-site staff only ever see the sites they have been granted.

The analytics dashboard is on every plan including the free Solo plan. Technician productivity depends on time tracking, which is part of the Workshop plan at £79 a month. The daily manager report is available on every plan.
